Roanoke

Over the last few years, members of [nlcf] have been volunteering their time at United Christian Inner-City Ministry.  This church is made of up predominately low-income families.  Each Sunday morning and evening, they hold a worship service.  After the music is over, the pastor dismisses the children (anyone under 18) to the back of the building.  This is where we step in.

Our role has been to provide the church with a semblance of a children’s ministry.  We teach the children Bible lessons, feed them dinner, and simply talk to them.  Many of their stories are heartbreaking, but all of the children are amazing.

If you are interested in helping us serve these kids, we head out there every Sunday evening.  We meet at 4:15pm in 130 Jackson to pray and then hit the road by 4:30pm.  Their service runs from 6 to 7:30pm and we watch the children for the last hour.  We would return between 8:30 and 9pm.

By signing up to help, you are not committing to come each week (unless of course you want to).  We are looking for anyone willing to spend any time with these kids and willing to offer a glimpse of Christ’s love to them.  Feel free to email Brandon Thompson with any other questions you may have!  Otherwise, I hope to see you Sunday evening.
