Facing Strongholds

The Facing Strongholds group at NLCF is the combined effort of the staff, volunteers, and other leaders’ desire to reach out into our community and into our body of believers to stand firm against the challenges of addiction. This group exists to provide accountability, prayer, and guidance for anyone struggling with a continual stronghold or addiction.

We lend our hearts to Psalm 73: 25-26:

25 Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

26 My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever

We recognize three primary truths about facing strongholds and addictions in our lives:

  1. God is the strength of our hearts in times of intense suffering and pain (Ps. 73:26-26)
  2. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, including our own shame (Rom. 8:38-39)
  3. We meet to encourage one another and proclaim healing in our lives by the grace of Christ (Heb. 10:24; James 5:16)

We meet as a small group to encourage one another to live in the light (Jn 1:5-10) and to provide a resource for struggling individuals. This group is available to both men and women, although we do meet separately. Mental health referrals will be made available, but this group is not a substitute for therapeutic services.
