David & Wendy Chinn

Wendy ChinnWhile a student at Virginia Tech, David preferred spending his time serving people over completing homework. Although he uses his civil engineering degree now to work as a project manager for the university, his heart still desires to use his gift of hospitality to bless the lives of others.

As a young girl, Wendy would line up stuffed animals and dolls and try to convince her family members to come listen to sermons she had just written that she was about to preach from behind a piano bench. This was the start to a love of communicating God’s Word that has continued to this day as Wendy serves on the speaking team at [nlcf].

Finding deals online, doing research, and planning details for events and trips comes naturally to David. He loves to use this gift of administration to bless the staff team and others within the [nlcf] community. He also enjoys mentoring and providing encouragement to young leaders.

Serving as a captain of 3 sports teams in high school, leadership has always been synonymous with Wendy. She currently uses this gifting of leadership to help oversee Reach (women’s ministry) as part of her role as a deacon of [nlcf]. Aside from her part-time job as a community college counselor, she also uses her master’s degree in counseling to touch the lives and hearts of broken women in our community.

David and Wendy have been associate (volunteer) staff members at [nlcf] since 2002. They have been married for 9 years and have a 1-year-old daughter named Daisy. In their spare time, they root on the Hokies (of course) and all of the important teams from Chicago (the White Sox, the Bulls, the Bears, and the Blackhawks). They adamantly root against the Cubs.

Having an open home has become a way of life for the Chinns. They love inviting others over for dinner, have frequently had students live with them over the years, and enjoy hosting events and gatherings to serve the needs of the church community. Their home, houseofchinn, has become a “home away from home” for many transplants to Blacksburg and is huge part of the Chinn’s ministry. If you’re in need of a home-cooked meal or you want to watch NFL football on Sundays, give David or Wendy a holler and stop on by!
