The mission of [nlcf] is to invest in spiritual growth, invite others to follow Jesus and inspire each other to change the world.
Meet the Swann family: Mike, Sarah, Benjamin, and Nathaniel.
Mike has been on staff with [nlcf] since 1998. He is one of the pastors here focusing on the campus-side of [nlcf]. Since 2001, Sarah has been on associate staff with [nlcf] volunteering her time and gifts. Mike and Sarah have been married since 2002 and have a love for combining their family with their church family. Their goal is to help [nlcf] become your home away from home. Their kids (Benjamin age 5, Nathaniel “Than” almost 1) are on what the Swann’s call “college ministry time” and will be seen frequently at [nlcf] events.
Mike would define himself as the shepherd of [nlcf]. To Mike, there are no strangers, only friends he hasn’t met yet. And, although meeting and talking to people is a strong gift of his, short-term memory is not. So, yes expect to become Mike’s friend, but have grace if (more like when) he forgets your name.
Because of Mike’s gift of shepherding, a majority of his time is spent discipling the [nlcf] staff team, key [nlcf] leaders, and he is always available for anyone else who might need a listening ear. Sarah can be found discipling key female leaders as well. Mike is also in the teaching rotation for Sunday mornings.
Mike and Sarah love to do ministry together. Together, they lead [nlcf’s] premarital counseling classes and dating classes. They also help coach and attend a student Home Group and their family attends and helps lead [nlcf’s] summer Leadership Training program.
Mike has an intense passion for all things hokie, especially hokie football. Sarah loves gardening and discovering new recipes with the help of Food Network. Benjamin likes to play with cars and trains, ride his bike, and has been known to bust-a-move on the dance floor. Nathaniel loves to eat and will smile at everyone he meets.
Welcome to the [nlcf] family! GO HOKIES!!!
